Dog Regarded as Too Violent for Adoption Gets Another Chance and Surprises Everybody

Lola was regarded as too violent to get adopted, however one woman suspected she was an ideal pup for her family. When she took the little doggy home, she discovered that Lola was definitely not aggressive.

This tiny chihuahua was left behind when she was still a puppy. When she was put into a local shelter, the staff regarded her as too ‘hostile’ to be placed up for adoption. The dog was put into two cages to prevent her from getting away.

Nicola Grice found out about Lola’s story and felt keen to see the dog. Despite having been warned by the staff, Grice made the decision to give the dog another chance and take her home. Lola’s response to her new human was totally different than anyone had assumed it would be.

From the moment they left the shelter, Grice knew Lola was very unlikely to be the aggressive animal that everyone was talking about.

“When I took her to our vet for the first time, she fell asleep in her arms,” Grice shares. “Yup, that’s an aggressive dog for you.”

After that came the actual test for Lola: interacting with her new four-legged brother, another saved chihuahua, Chip. Remarkably, the two dogs instantly made a connection.

It looked like Lola had at long last found her furever home and could live happily ever after. However, Grice said, just after almost everything fell right into place, things took a turn for the worst.

One evening, as the family was about to go to bed, Lola started acting bizarrely and collapsed on the ground. Following a late night visit to the vet, Lola was clinically diagnosed with hemolytic anemia, a condition that triggers the blood cells to attack the body.

Grice started Lola on a rigid medical routine composed of medication as well as blood transfusions. Even though the medical bills had started to stack up, Grice felt she had to do everything she could to help Lola.

“I am absolutely broke but still can’t bring myself to give up on my otherwise healthy little Lola, who brings me so much joy without trying everything I can think of to find a solution first,” she shares on her GoFundMe page.

In the meantime, things are looking good for Lola. Her vet states that her hemolytic anemia is in remission and her family shares that they’re going to make the most of every second they have with one another.
