A frightening ordeal for Hatem the Springer Spaniel and his owner. A year ago, walkers out for an afternoon stroll near the town of Roeser in Luxembourg spotted a dog in the River Alzette.
The animal was in difficulty and didn't appear to be accompanied by his owner. He couldn't manage to get himself out of the water. Worried for the animal, the walkers decided to contact the emergency services, and they were right to do so.
A dog with impaired vision and hearing
The Roeserbann firefighters arrived quickly on the scene and were able to rescue the animal without difficulty. They immediately noticed that he wasn't in full possession of all his faculties. Indeed, the Springer Spaniel appeared to be blind, which was why he hadn't managed to get himself out of this predicament.
A few days earlier, Hatem's owner had posted a missing dog appeal on Facebook after losing his dog. The police were able to reunite the animal with his relieved owner.
Wrapped in a blanket to warm up, Hatem fortunately wasn't injured during this unfortunate experience and is recovering quietly from his ordeal.
