The family had just welcomed a Labradoodle puppy into their home.
They couldn't have been happier.
A lethargic puppy
But just a few hours after Murphy arrived at his new home, they noticed something was seriously wrong. The puppy was completely lethargic. He would either sit in the living room, his sad eyes staring into space, or go back to his bed and turn his back on his family.
The poor puppy was clearly unwell, so his family took him to the vet for some tests. It was there they learned that Murphy had canine parvovirus, a highly contagious viral illness that affects dogs.
Round-the-clock care
Murphy needed urgent medical care. However, his family couldn't afford the $7,000 vet bill. So, their vet suggested a different approach with at-home care, and Murphy's family chose this option. They set the puppy up in a warm, safe, and isolated area of the house and gave him the round-the-clock care he needed.
After five days of intensive treatment, Murphy began to respond. The puppy started to accept food and even wanted to eat on his own. Then his tail started to wag: he was coming back to life! Today, the puppy is doing much better. He can even be seen running and playing in the living room, to the delight of his family and everyone online!
