The crew from Miami-Dade's Engine 48 received a call to rescue ducklings stuck inside a commercial bin. When they arrived on the scene, the team approached the bin carefully.
Instead of the feathered friends they expected, the rescuers found a young black Labrador cross. The poor pup was hiding at the bottom of the bin, panting heavily in the sweltering heat.
Immediate care back at the station
The firefighters gently approached him to check for any injuries. After finding that he was healthy but had no collar, tag, or contact details, the team carefully loaded him into their vehicle.
Once back at the station, the sweet dog was given a good meal, a warm bath, and a safe place to rest. The crew decided to name him Jack.
A temporary home with his rescuer
Jack quickly settled into life at the station and it didn't take long for him to find a place to stay. One of the firefighters who helped rescue him decided to foster him at home until he finds his forever family.
