Police dog stops dead at a car: what's inside the boot brings down a drug ring

By Ludivine Mazzotti

This police dog has an extraordinary sense of smell.

Sniffer dogs are trained to detect certain scents from several metres away.

For dogs working with the police, some are specially trained to detect the scent and traces of drugs.

A crackdown on crime

On Tuesday 3rd March 2026, French police officers were stationed outside the train station in Nangis, in the Seine-et-Marne region of France. They were conducting an anti-crime operation from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. that day.

That afternoon, their police dog would play a crucial role.

Picking up the scent

The police dog suddenly stopped in front of a car parked outside the station. He had picked up a scent.

The officers then proceeded to check the individual's identity and search the car's boot. They discovered illegal substances inside. The man was arrested for drug trafficking. The sniffer dog had successfully completed his mission!
