Norm Feigenbaum is 93 years old.

On 4th October, he went to do his shopping in his neighbourhood in Los Angeles, USA, as usual.

Sadly, when he returned home, he discovered that Sunny, his seven-year-old dog, had disappeared.

Gone missing

The Labrador had scaled the garden wall in an attempt to follow her owner to the shops. With no trace of his dog, Norm was terrified for her safety. However, he was more than determined to find her. He contacted the rescuers at Dog Days Search and Rescue for help.

Together, they put up posters all over the city reading: "93-year-old owner searching for his best friend!" and "Don't chase her!" They had to wait a week before getting a lead.

Falling into the trap

Someone called them to say they'd spotted Sunny about a mile from Norm's house. The rescuers then set up some rather unusual traps in the area. They laid out a trail of Norm's dirty socks leading into the trap.

Sunny was drawn in by the scent of her owner's socks, and just 30 minutes later, she was safe and sound. The volunteers from Dog Days took Sunny to the vet to treat a few minor injuries, and then she was reunited with her best friend. Norm is so happy to have Sunny back and so grateful that he's even planning to frame the dirty socks that helped find Sunny in his living room!
