Liz Lang is the owner of Pearl, a Golden Retriever, and her little sister Poppi.

On 19th October, Liz recently took her two dogs to a farm to meet the animals.

Things didn't go exactly as planned! When Poppi met the pigs for the first time, she got frightened.

A fear quickly forgotten

Indeed, you can see in the video footage at the beginning that the pigs' grunting scared her and she ran away. But that didn't stop her from trying again. The little Golden Retriever then gently went back to see them and tried to sniff them through the fence.

By the end of the encounter, Poppi lay down in front of the pigs and even wagged her little tail with happiness. You can even see her giving the pigs lots of kisses through the fence. After a mixed first impression, the little dog decided they were the best of friends!

They're fascinated

Internet users reacted strongly to Poppi's first meeting with the pigs. For some, the pigs were acting just like dogs: "They're just short-haired puppies, really!" Or: "Porcine friends are the best!" Internet users really appreciated how the relationship between the two evolved: "At first, it was a big no, then: hello friends!"

For a meeting between animals to go as smoothly as possible, it's essential that the encounter is supervised throughout. For example, in the case of the meeting between Poppi and the pigs, it's good that the fence provided a separation and thus allowed the encounter to happen gently. In the end, the meeting between Poppi and the pigs took place in the best conditions and a lovely friendship was born!
