At the beginning of March, Jennifer received a call from her sister asking for help.
Her sister explained that for the past two months, she had been looking after a stray dog that would occasionally appear at the bottom of her garden. She had been leaving out food and water to help it survive.
A call for help
Jennifer's sister had reported the stray to Dallas Animal Services several times, but they had never come out. The day she noticed the dog was limping, she decided enough was enough. She climbed over her garden fence to bring the poor dog inside.
It was then that she realised the dog was female, and pregnant! Jennifer and her sister searched for a foster home to provide a comfortable space for the dog and her future puppies. Unfortunately, no foster families were available.
The X-rays reveal all
Jennifer's sister already had two dogs of her own and her house was full, but she refused to leave the stray to fend for herself. She ended up setting up a special area for the dog, now named Peach, and worked with a dog-sitter to make sure someone was always with her.
A few weeks later, Peach gave birth to nine beautiful puppies. She proved to be a very protective mother and always had enough milk to care for her little ones. However, Peach's X-rays revealed another secret...
Her limp was actually caused by a dislocated leg. She needs surgery, but they have to wait until the puppies are weaned before she can be anaesthetised and operated on. Peach is an adorable dog, a real sweetheart, and everyone is certain she will soon find her forever home!
