The two companions live together in the UK.
On Thursday 9th October, the little Dachshund was at the pub with his owner.
An unexpected leap
Suddenly, the little dog jumped off the table in pursuit of another dog. This wouldn't have been particularly serious, but Poggy's behaviour following this fall panicked his owner. During the hours that followed, the Dachshund refused to move, walk or interact.
His owner feared that her dog was suffering from intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), a condition that damages the discs that cushion the vertebrae of the spine. She rushed to the vet, fearing that Poggy might be paralysed.
Change of behaviour
However, when Poggy's owner began to explain his refusal to walk, he did exactly the opposite... Poggy walked around the clinic room, shook himself and even stretched! He acted as if nothing had happened at all... His "strange" behaviour ultimately cost his owner over £573!
But that wasn't all. The next day, Poggy started acting in exactly the same way again: he wouldn't walk. To be safe, his owner took him to another vet. The second vet indicated that he thought the little dog had worked out that this behaviour attracted attention to him. Fortunately, he's fine today and has completely returned to his normal self. Phew, what a relief!
