It's not every day you find a dog like this wandering the streets.

Suzette Hall, founder of the US-based rescue Logan’s Legacy 29, rushed to the scene after being alerted to a dog left all alone on a street corner.

As reported by The Dodo, the rescuer found the dog standing motionless on the corner. At first, Suzette had the impression the animal was waiting for someone.

A shocking discovery

On closer inspection, she realised this dog was different from others. It was a Xoloitzcuintli, also known as a Mexican Hairless Dog. "It's incredible to see one of these babies abandoned like that," she said.

After a quick investigation in the neighbourhood, Suzette learned a little more about the dog's story, who she named Pitzen. Residents told her they had seen a "red Lexus pull up and abandon two dogs."

With a great deal of patience, she managed to get him to safety. As is standard practice, the dog was taken for immediate medical care. He was thin and dirty from living on the streets, but he soon received a bath, a vet check-up, and a good meal.

A search for his sister

Meanwhile, Suzette began searching for the other dog that was abandoned with Pitzen. She quickly tracked his sister down to a local shelter. Unfortunately, Suzette explained on Facebook that she was unable to get her out of the shelter.

Pitzen will soon be ready for adoption. Hopefully, this sweet dog will quickly find a loving home.
