Enjoying a relaxing moment by the water was no doubt what this walker had in mind. But instead of soaking up the gentle lapping of the river and the fresh breeze on a riverbank in Bulgaria, her outing suddenly turned into a living nightmare.
As she walked, she spotted a suspicious movement near the edge: a tightly tied sack was half-submerged in the shallow water. To her horror, the bag was moving! She quickly pulled it out of the water in a panic and tore it open. What she saw inside made her heart skip a beat...
Thrown into the water without a second thought!
Panic-stricken, the woman opened the bag and found herself looking into the terrified eyes of a tiny puppy. Someone had tried to drown this poor little creature in cold blood.
Named Dobby by rescuers after his ordeal, the poor puppy only just survived. Sadly, the mental scars ran deep. To this day, water remains the absolute worst fear for this Husky Cross. It is a trauma deeply etched into his memory.
Dobby still bears other scars from his past. He is highly suspicious of adult men, often growling at them to keep his distance. It is a telltale sign that hints at the kind of person who caused him such terrible suffering when he was just a pup.

A shattered dream in Germany
Years later, his luck seemed to change. Dobby was rehomed in Germany, where he found a family. It looked like he was finally living the good life. Sadly, this hope was short-lived, and tragedy struck once again.
Things deteriorated so badly in his new home that the police had to intervene. Officers ended up removing the Husky Cross from the household. In the blink of an eye, Dobby's world came crashing down all over again.
A survivor searching for his safe haven
Today, this Husky Cross, who was born in 2019, is living at the shelter in Stuttgart, Germany. But do not be fooled – Dobby is far from broken. He constantly surprises volunteers with his incredible bravery: he happily approaches people, loves a cuddle, and actively looks for human contact.
Dobby is also a true survivor with quite a personality. He knows exactly what he wants and can be rather strong-willed. His future owners will need to be firm, set clear boundaries, and have plenty of patience.
Here is Dobby's profile:
Other dogs: He absolutely loves female dogs and is always on his best behaviour around them.
Cats: He has lived with cats before. A gentle introduction will be needed to see if they get along.
Family: According to his previous owners, he gets on well with children, but he needs a bit of time to build up trust.
Training: His lead walking still needs a little work.
Who would like to show Dobby that not all humans are disappointing, whilst having the firm hand needed to handle this strong-willed Husky Cross? The Stuttgart shelter is waiting to hear from you!
