On Friday, 7 August, the heat was stifling in the car park of the Côte d’Opale clinic in Saint-Martin-Boulogne. Inside a vehicle parked directly in the baking sun, a poor dog was waiting desperately for help, trapped all alone in the cabin.
As reported by the French newspaper La Voix du Nord, the poor animal had been trapped inside for more than two hours. Temperatures inside a closed vehicle can skyrocket in minutes, meaning every second counted to prevent a tragedy.
A vigilant eye saves the day
Fortunately, a member of the clinic's staff spotted the dog through the windows. Realising the danger instantly, they contacted the local town hall to arrange an emergency rescue.
The animal rescue unit, Opale Capture, was alerted quickly and rushed to the scene. Thanks to their expertise and quick response, the rescuers managed to pull the dog out of the stifling furnace.
An essential reminder for pet safety
Safe and sound after this miraculous rescue, the dog was taken into care and moved to a cool, safe place.
Following the incident, the animal rescue team strongly reminded the public that it is extremely dangerous—and illegal—to leave a pet alone in a car parked in the sun, even for a brief moment.
