Jet was out walking on holiday with her owners in North Yorkshire, when she let out a high-pitched scream and her face swelled up.
"The way we carried her into the vet, I'm thinking the worst" told owner Jonathan.
Taking immediate action
At first, Jet's owners thought she had come across a grass snake. But from her reaction, it was clear something was seriously wrong.
They rushed her to vet Josh Smith, who was able to bring the swelling down successfully. Adder bites are rarely fatal, but owners should take immediate action if their dog has been bitten, he explained.
Jet spent a week at the surgery, with blood abnormalities and swelling of her face. She is now recovering at home.

"Some people may have seen information about placing tourniquets to stop venom spread. That doesn't work at all." Josh warned owners.
"The best thing to do is carry your dog back to the car and then seek veterinary attention immediately".
