Daniel Sarche lives in Colorado and hadn't planned on adopting a dog.

However, a pup called Waffles came into his life by chance.

One of Daniel's friends fosters dogs through the rescue centre 2 Blondes All Breeds.

Love at first sight

When his friend shared the story of a dog named Harry, Daniel was completely smitten. He decided to apply to adopt him. Daniel then learnt that Harry had already been reserved by another family. So he put himself on the waiting list and started looking into other dogs at the rescue centre.

That's when Waffles, initially called Salamander by the rescue, caught his attention. In the rescue's photo, the pup had a radiant smile and immediately won Daniel's heart. There was another reason why he was particularly excited about adopting him... The rescue had listed him as a Welsh Corgi.

Application accepted

A few days after applying to the rescue, Daniel was told his application had been accepted. He then met Waffles and it was love at first sight for both of them. More recently, Daniel started wondering about Waffles' origins.

In a post shared on Reddit, Daniel announced: "Waffles' DNA results are in, and I have some devastating news..." It turns out that Waffles is 34.9% Australian Shepherd, 26.5% Australian Cattle Dog, 23.7% Chihuahua and 14.9% Miniature American Shepherd. He has absolutely no Corgi genes! Whilst this was a huge surprise for Daniel, it doesn't affect the relationship between the two pals one bit. For Daniel, Waffles is the best thing that's ever happened to him!
