On the 19th of January, the rescue team was called to a heartbreaking case of cruelty.
A dog had been locked inside a car for a prolonged period.
An urgent rescue
Inside the vehicle, the floor and seats were covered in excrement. There was no food or water available for the poor animal. The rescuers immediately contacted the local police (Gendarmerie) to gain access to the car.
After receiving the necessary authorisation, and on the public prosecutor's orders, they were able to smash the window. This was the first step towards freedom for the poor dog. Thankfully, he was saved just in time.
A shocking state of neglect
The dog was rushed to a vet for an examination. The poor creature was found to be extremely thin, with significant muscle wastage and several mammary tumours.
In their post, the rescuers shared the excuse given by the dog's "owner": he claimed he wanted to prevent the dog from breathing in dust from a flat that was being renovated. The Animal Cruelty Investigation Unit has filed a formal complaint, and the case is now ongoing.
