Ellie Banducci is a professional dog trainer from Payson, Arizona, USA. She spotted Henry curled up in a dirty sofa that had been dumped by the side of the road.
Henry was so small and fluffy that Ellie thought he was a cuddly toy or tiny teddy bear. But she decided to take a closer look just to make sure.
Henry was all alone
And thank god she did. Because there's no way this vulnerable little soul would have survived for much longer.
Henry was terrified at first and tried scaring Ellie off with his growl. But he quickly realised that this human was here to help him, not hurt him.
He lets Ellie pick him up and then carry him home, where he's going to stay forever.
"I was so angry that someone would allow him to feel so worthless," said Ellie. "He wasn't even cared for before he was dumped on that chair. He was so small, and his eyes said it all. He needed me."
Ellie filmed the rescue and posted the footage on TikTok. The clip received tonnes of attention, including more than 5 million views and nearly 7,000 comments.
"He's so precious," posted one person. "How could anyone abandon such a sweet baby?"
"Bless you for saving this poor dog," wrote another. "Now he has a good home with a lovely mum. One person's trash is a lucky lady's treasure.'"
Happy Henry
Ellie says that Henry has transformed into a tiny ray of sunshine. He brings joy to everyone he meets and approaches every day like it's the best day ever.
And he's a proper Velcro dog. He's never more than a paw's reach away from the person who saved him. Henry is one of those dogs that follows his favourite person everywhere.
"He wakes me up every day with a smile; he is joined at the hip to me," said Ellie. "He is totally spoiled. I can't imagine life without him."
