Skippy is a 26-year-old dog! He is the oldest dog in Ireland and one of the oldest dogs in the world. Skippy's age is about 130 years in human years!
Patrick took Skippy in during the summer of 1995. He had adopted him from a breeder. Two years ago, Skippy retired as a farm dog.
Ireland's oldest dog
Skippy's mobility has decreased and he now needs his owner to help him up. He has also lost his hearing. But that hasn't changed their special bond.
Patrick said that it was his turn to look after his sweet dog, after the dog had looked after him all these years.
Two inseparable friends
There are no official records to confirm Skippy's exact age, but some family members remember Skippy as a puppy on the farm in the 1990s. Patrick's neighbour still remembers Skippy chasing his car when he moved in about 20 years ago!
Well done Skippy, you can be proud of your great work, now it’s your time to get some rest.
