When Libby Davey lost her sweet elderly pup Smiff, she was heartbroken. Her younger pup, and Smiff’s brother Frank, was there to comfort her, but she wanted to do something special to remember him by.
And so, Libby commissioned a portrait of Smiff that she could hang in pride of place in her lounge. She didn’t expect the reaction she got from Frank, though.
A wagging tail
The video starts just after the portrait of Smiff has been hung.
Frank, the black Labrador, stares at the portrait and walks toward it, wagging his tail. He can’t seem to take his eyes off the picture.
Then, he runs around and climbs on the sofa to get a better look, all the while wagging his tail as excitedly as if Smiff had really come back. Next, he lets out a playful bark while bowing his front legs as if in play.
The comfort of a best friend
We’re sure that Frank has been a huge comfort to his owner Libby since they lost Smiff and we hope this portrait provides them both a little comfort on the days when they miss Smiff the most.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: We really don’t deserve dogs.
