Alexus adopted Kona in January, shortly after the heartbreaking loss of her family dog.
In the video, Alexus is seen holding a medium-sized black puppy with white markings on its paws and belly. She then turns to the internet with a question: What mix of breeds is Kona?
Breed mystery
“Dog lovers, would you like to guess my dog's breed? We received his DNA results and we were stunned! He weighs about 16 kg, he's six months old…and he's just a tiny baby,” she says.
She’s confident no one will get it right. Kona is a happy, playful puppy who loves being outdoors, meeting new people, and making friends at doggy daycare. At just six months old and already 18 kg, he’s on track to become a large dog!
Surprising results
When she adopted him from a shelter, Alexus was told Kona was a Labrador Retriever mix and that his mother was probably a Golden Retriever.
But the DNA test results said otherwise. Kona is:
- 51.6% Golden Retriever
- 22.8% Siberian Husky
- 16.1% American Bully
- 9.5% American Pit Bull Terrier
Sceptical of the results, Alexus decided to run the test again with a different company. The second report was almost identical, with only slight variations.
One viewer summed it up perfectly: “Veterinary student here, I can confirm his breed is a very good boy.”
