A couple of weeks ago, a doctor named Autumn Brewer lost her beloved pet, a Miniature Australian Shepherd named Stella.
While on shift at work, Autumn had requested the help of a dog walker from the Rover app. But when she returned to her apartment later that day, Stella was nowhere to be found, yet the dog walker assured her that she had dropped Stella off at the apartment after their walk.
Dog stolen from apartment in NYC
Panicked, Autumn assumed that someone had somehow gotten into her apartment and stolen her beloved pet. She did everything she could to get her best friend back: Sharing fliers, posting on social media, and contacting local rescue groups.
It was only four days after losing Stella that the apartment building’s management company finally agreed to share security footage from the night she had been stolen. And that’s when everything became clear.
While watching the footage, Amber immediately realised that the dog walker had brought Stella back to the wrong apartment, leaving her in a neighbour’s empty home with no food for 4 days.
Mini Aussie finally reunited with dog mum
As soon as Amber understood what had happened, she ran to the hallway and yelled “Stella!”, hearing a little bark in response. Minutes later, the door was opened, and Stella was reunited with her worried mum.
After a check-up at the emergency vet’s, it was confirmed that Stella was in perfect shape, if a little hungry. Now all Amber and Stella have to do is catch up on days’ worth of snuggles.
That’s one strange ‘tail’, but we’re so happy it ended well.
