Waldo the St Bernard is something of a celebrity in his Spanish hometown. He leaves no passer-by indifferent, and with good reason! He is absolutely huge.

If you grew up watching Beethoven then you can understand how exciting it is to meet a St Bernard in real life. And that’s exactly how Kira felt when she first met Waldo as a puppy.

He was a tiny bundle of fluff and looked more like a teddy bear than a dog. But three years and 90 kilos later, he looks more like a plain old bear than anything else!

Giant dog

As Waldo grew, Kira realised how intrigued people were by him. So she created a Facebook and Instagram page for him so that everyone could enjoy watching him take part in doggy adventures.

As beautiful and adorable as Waldo is, Kira doesn’t hide the fact that owning such a huge dog does have its challenges. For example, when Waldo was just a few months old, he basically devoured her living room table. When she came downstairs after a good night’s sleep, she realised there was only half a table left. Thanks, Waldo!

What's good about St Bernards?

Despite the size and the slobber, there are many upsides to owning a St Bernard. Waldo loves everyone. He is friendly with other dogs and even cats! In fact, his mum regularly rescues strays, and Waldo can’t help but fall in love with all of them. But his favourite friend of all? The daughter of one of his mum’s friends – little Andrea.

We hope to see a lot more of you in the future Waldo! We just can’t get enough!
