A Podenco-type dog was walking along the edge of the highway bridge, and she was dangerously close to falling.
So the volunteer, of course, pulled over and approached the dog, trying to help. But the poor pooch was so scared that she started backing away, getting closer and closer to the precipice.
Right place at the right time
Then suddenly, she slipped off the edge, and it seemed as though she would be falling onto the busy road below to her death. But the volunteer caught her just in time.
In her panic, the dog sank her teeth into the volunteer’s arms, but that didn’t deter the woman. She pulled the pup back onto the bridge, carried her to her car, and drove her to the shelter.
An abusive past
It took Haya, as she was later known, a considerable amount of time to gain trust in humans. Most of the time, she cowered to the ground when she was approached, trembling and anxious. She had clearly been abused in her past life.
And what happened to her next didn’t help either. She was adopted by a family, but became so over-protective of the child that she wouldn’t let the father close. If the family had been willing to commit to her training, the behavioural problems could’ve been fixed. However, this family didn’t have the patience, and they returned Haya to the shelter.
In need of a break
Haya was now saved from her near-death experience four years ago! She is a completely different dog than when she came in: confident, active, social, and trainable. All she needs now is a home and a family who will love her. Could that be you?
