In March 2018, a dog was found in a skip right outside the animal shelter in Saarbrücken.
A dog in terrible condition
When they opened the skip, the shelter volunteers got the shock of their lives. Inside, they discovered a dog in a critical condition. The poor animal was completely frozen and had been eating rubbish to try and survive. Fortunately, the female dog, estimated to be around two years old, was saved just in time.
A new beginning for Sunny
But it would take more than that to discourage her rescuers. Sunny – her new name – was quickly taken into their care to give her a second chance at life. Meanwhile, an active search was underway for the person responsible for this particularly cruel act of abandonment, so they could be brought to justice.
Thankfully, the little pooch was able to get back on her paws, thanks to the help of all the volunteers who rallied round to help her.
