A wonderful meeting
The team explained that at the end of October, they received an email from a woman named Kaitlyn. She was interested in adopting Ella, a dog who had been at the shelter for seven years.
Ella was the shelter's longest resident. Kaitlyn explained that her previous dog, Jo, had recently passed away and she was now ready to welcome another canine companion into her life.
The shelter encouraged Kaitlyn to come and meet Ella. When she arrived and met the dog, it was clear they were meant for each other!
In the past, Ella had been fearful and needed time to learn to trust people. But with Kaitlyn, she showed absolutely no signs of hesitation or wariness.
A truly moving sign
During their meeting, Kaitlyn's eyes filled with tears as she looked at the bandana around Ella's neck.
She then explained to the shelter staff that she recognised the bandana and that it held a very special place in her heart.
She took out a photo of her dog, Jo, wearing a bandana, and said: "This bandana Ella's wearing, it was Jo's. I donated them all here when he passed away."
Of the twenty or so dogs at their shelter, Ella was the only one wearing one of Jo's bandanas that day.
For Kaitlyn, there was no doubt in her mind: it was a sign from Jo, giving his blessing for her to adopt Ella!
Kaitlyn went home with Ella, and the two are now set to have many wonderful adventures together!
