Whilst driving near a beach, she spotted a dog running close to the water.
What alerted Jessie was that the dog appeared to be completely alone on the beach.
Waiting for his family
So the young woman moved closer to try and understand the situation better. She tried to coax the dog into her car, but he ran away. Jessie then wrote a Facebook post to get help from the animal-loving community. Thanks to the comments left under her post, she realised he wasn't lost, but abandoned.
Jessie decided to return every day for a month to see him. Each day, the pooch stared at the sea, as if searching for or waiting for someone. To Jessie, the dog was looking for the family who had abandoned him, unaware that they would never come back for him.
Gaining his trust
For over a month, Jessie tried to approach the pooch, but he ran away each time. So she left cameras near the food bowls to keep track of his location.
One day, the dog finally understood that Jessie was there to help him. Jessie threw him pieces of chicken and the pooch was starving, so he slowly moved closer to her. So much so that she was shocked when he approached and ate directly from her hand!
A new family
Jessie was able to slip a lead around his neck and brought him home. She named the pooch Ocean. He fitted in with her whole family immediately. He was so happy and grateful to be around humans again and cuddled everyone.
Once Ocean had recovered, Jessie entrusted Ocean to a family who were delighted to adopt him forever. For Jessie, it was very hard to say goodbye to the pooch, but sadly she couldn't take him in herself. She continues to receive photos of the pooch and remains very attached to Ocean.
