Passed from home to home, this young dog had ended up withdrawing completely. Just when her fate seemed sealed, a last-minute encounter changed everything.

Prim, a one-year-old female Pit Bull, had a turbulent start to life in the United States. After a first adoption in March 2024, the dog had finally tasted the comfort of a home. But a few weeks later, her family decided to pass her on to other owners. They, struggling with financial difficulties, had to return her to Fulton County Animal Services shelter in Atlanta in September.

This return behind bars deeply affected the dog. According to volunteers, Prim immediately withdrew into herself, unable to understand why she had once again lost her place in a home. Stressed, she panted constantly, chewed at the walls of her kennel and refused all contact.

An unexpected adoption at the last minute

Merve Gurses, a shelter volunteer and creator of the Instagram account @frompitstopeaches, shared Prim's story to try to give her one last chance. In a video posted at the end of October 2025, the young dog can be seen huddled in a corner, avoiding visitors' eyes. The appeal touched thousands of people online. The post reached over 113,000 views within hours.

As the deadline approached, Prim had to be adopted before 7pm on 30th October, and a family came forward in time. "A wonderful family", according to the volunteer, decided to take her in just before the deadline. Since then, Prim has finally discovered the stability and affection she had been waiting for so long.
