On 13th October, she took Nikki the dog out for a wonderful day away from the shelter.
Nikki arrived at the shelter in June 2025 after police officers found her lying beside her deceased owner.
A fantastic day
The two friends spent their day playing at the park, enjoying a puppuccino at Starbucks, and choosing a present at a pet shop. Nikki was so happy to soak up the sunshine and roll about in the grass! Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and when it was time to return to the shelter, Nikki had a reaction that left Lindsay heartbroken.
In the video footage below, you can see the dog with her head down, turning slightly away from Lindsay. She takes time to process what's happening, then curls up in a ball in the car with a very sad expression. The volunteer was heartbroken to have to put the dog back in her kennel at the shelter...
Finding a home
Following the video posted on social media, Popo Pitbull Rescue stepped in to offer Nikki help. The rescuers took Nikki into their care and managed to find her the most loving foster family in Miami. Nikki is very happy in her foster home, where she receives plenty of care, love and cuddles.
Nikki's story stirred up strong emotions amongst people online: "Her red eyes and nose break my heart." And also: "Please, someone give Nikki the sweet freedom she deserves." Nikki is still looking for her forever family, and we hope she finds them very soon!
