Just over a year ago, the SPA de Savoie shelter in Chambéry, France, was already in a worrying situation.
Full to bursting, it was still receiving numerous abandonment requests every week and had been forced to create a waiting list.
So when the owners of a Mastiff cross came to drop off their dog, they were told they'd have to wait, as the shelter couldn't take the animal in. However, the SPA de Savoie team gave them the necessary information so the animal could be entrusted to them when space became available.
But the owners of this black and white dog clearly didn't have time to delay this abandonment.
A surprise the next morning
When the team arrived the following morning, they had the sad surprise of discovering an unknown dog in one of the shelter's outdoor pens. In reality, the dog wasn't quite so unknown, as it was the Mastiff cross who had been turned away the day before.
Without a second thought, the animal's owners had simply decided to abandon him at the shelter by their own means, leaving no choice to this already overwhelmed facility. The poor dog had probably spent the night in that pen, unable to understand what was happening to him.
