The poor dog had completely lost hope of ever being adopted.
The brave, energetic dog was adored by the shelter volunteers, but no family wanted to adopt her for good...
Finding hope again
For 933 days, the shelter staff gave Tracy the best life possible whilst waiting for the right person to notice her. They made sure to provide her with daily mental and physical enrichment, so that Tracy would be ready when her family came along.
Recently, Laura and her family arrived at the shelter hoping to adopt a dog. They had selected several dogs on their list, including Tracy, whom they had seen in a video on the shelter's website. The family greeted the first few dogs from the shelter, but felt no connection. Then they spotted Tracy... Tracy caught Laura's eye and rested her head in her hand. After five minutes, they knew it was her: she was their dog!
A farewell party
The team members at PAWS Chicago were over the moon. To celebrate Tracy's last day at the shelter, they gathered all her best friends for a big farewell party. More than 40 people came to stroke Tracy and wish her well. It was the best leaving present!
Today, Tracy is living her best life with her family. She loves walks, car rides and tugging on her rope toys. Laura is deeply grateful to the PAWS team for looking after Tracy all that time, and even more so that the dog is now home!
