When Madison left her student accommodation for her own place, she knew she wanted to help those who needed it most.
For this devoted animal lover, it was a no-brainer.
Becoming a foster family
Madison went to her local shelter to offer her help. That's where she met a dog called Charlie. The rescue worker suggested Madison take Charlie home for a few days, as he was stressed at the shelter. She ended up officially adopting him before the week was out!
Since then, she's continued helping whenever she can. She's fostered over 30 dogs, including some who were due to be put down, found on the streets or needing medical care. Among them were Willie, who suffered from severe untreated skin problems, and Mary, a pregnant dog who wandered onto Madison's porch during a snowstorm and gave birth to eight puppies. Madison even took in Honey the cat, who needed a loving home to recover from illness.
Sharing their daily life
Most of the time, the young woman fosters dogs one at a time. However, there have been occasions when she's taken in an emergency foster dog who would have been put down if they hadn't found a safe home that very day.
Madison often shares her experiences on social media to show how rewarding being a foster family can be. Her dream is to open her own rescue centre one day. We sincerely hope her dream becomes reality soon!
