Bruno and Jack, two canine brothers, spent the first few months of their lives with a family. Sadly, last spring, the pair were abandoned at a shelter.
Due to overcrowding at the shelter, the dogs were scheduled to be put down.
It was during what was meant to be Jack's "final walk" that Ella Hovsepian, a dedicated dog rescue volunteer, spotted him.
A heart-wrenching plea
Sensing his distress and loneliness, she managed to get him out of the shelter. But as she was leading him to safety, Jack started barking towards Bruno, who was still in his kennel.
Although heartbroken, Ella couldn't take both dogs straight away due to logistical issues.
To help Bruno, the young woman decided to appeal for help on social media. Thanks to the support of the Sandy Dog Rescue organisation, Bruno was rescued the very next morning.
Reunited at last
While Jack was placed in a centre to help him overcome his trauma, Bruno was taken in by a foster family. As luck would have it, a wonderful new family was ready to adopt both brothers.
After seven months apart, the two brothers were finally reunited. Their reaction melted the volunteers' hearts: calm and attentive, they sniffed each other as if to check the other was real, before celebrating their reunion with a playful game.
Today, Jack lives as a companion dog with Bruno's family, and the two brothers continue to share wonderful adventures together.
