The rescue took place in the dead of night.
It was impossible to see much of anything around.
Two pairs of eyes in the night
But the situation was urgent. Suzette had received a report about two dogs who had been abandoned in the park. At first, Suzette and her colleague struggled to find the dogs. It was just so dark... Then, as they walked through the park, the rescuers noticed a peculiar smell.
That's when they discovered a locked crate with two abandoned dogs: one inside, and the other outside. The poor pups had been left in a crate in the middle of a park where predators were known to roam. Inside the crate were a few pieces of a pizza slice, and rubbish was scattered all around. The two dogs stayed close to each other. Even the one outside the crate remained near his brother, and they watched over one another.
A new beginning
To rescue them, the team first had to earn their trust. So, Suzette approached the crate and showed the dog on the outside that she meant no harm to his brother inside. The pup was a little shy at first, but he gradually came closer to the rescuer... and even started giving her kisses! Suzette and her colleague were then able to get the puppies into their car and to safety.
The moment the puppies were in the car, they seemed to know they were safe. They were so grateful! Despite some minor skin issues, the two pups, now named Cupid and Ero, are in fairly good health. For now, Suzette is looking after them until they find a foster family. We hope Cupid and Ero find their loving forever home very soon!
