On 12 September, the rescuer was driving with Milo, one of the dogs saved by the organisation, when she received a phone call with devastating news.
It was Milo's potential adopter calling to say that she wouldn't be adopting Milo after all.
Crushing disappointment
The lady's partner didn't want to adopt Milo, and the rescue insists that the whole family must be on board with any adoption. Faced with this terrible news, Jill felt a wave of sadness and disappointment wash over her in the car. But Milo quickly offered his support. He gently placed his paw on her shoulder whilst she was driving.
For Jill, it was clear that the pooch had sensed her emotions and wanted to comfort her. She shared a photo of Milo's affectionate gesture on Outta the Cage's Facebook page.
A real challenge
Milo was rescued by the organisation nine months ago. Initially found as a stray, the 3-year-old pup had been placed on a euthanasia list at a previous shelter. Fortunately, he was saved by Outta the Cage rescuers whilst waiting to find his forever home.
For Jill, finding Milo a family will be challenging. Black dogs like Milo often struggle to find homes. Yet he's such an affectionate and joyful dog. He wags his tail constantly and even does a little dance when he's excited. Milo has so much love to give and is eagerly waiting for his forever family!
