They called on the national animal welfare organisation, the ASPCA, for assistance.
This is a common procedure when a local shelter lacks the necessary resources, such as funding, space, or staff, to meet the animals' needs.
A massive rescue operation
The rescue was a monumental task. Rescuers were called to a property in Vermont, USA, to help nearly 60 Huskies. The dogs were being kept in a barn with no access to food or water, and most were severely malnourished.
The group included older dogs as well as young puppies, all of whom were in desperate need of help. Rescuers removed the dogs' chains and transported them to the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center in Ohio.
The road to recovery
All 60 Huskies were examined and received the medical care they needed. With the help of their rescuers, the dogs will now have the time they need to recover from their ordeal.
They will also get the chance to experience what it's truly like to be a dog: running in the grass, playing with toys, and learning to walk on a lead. We wish them all the best for the future and hope they soon find their loving forever homes.
