Two people discovered an abandoned Yorkshire Terrier/a> at around 1:40am.
They entered a shop and told staff they'd found the dog in a cage by the roadside.
Strange abandonment
They told the shop assistant they didn't know what to do with the little dog. The pup was in its cage with a bed and water bowl.
The shop assistant let a customer take the dog home for the night. Later that day, the shop manager grew concerned about the dog's welfare and rang the police...
All is well
Police managed to track down the person who'd taken the dog home. This person eventually handed the dog over to Attleboro animal shelter. The pup was in good health, appeared well cared for and showed no signs of injury.
The dog is actually a six-month-old female who wasn't wearing a collar and hadn't been microchipped. She's now in the care of Attleboro animal shelter.
