The resident had absolutely no idea where the dogs could have come from. He took a photo of the puppies and posted it on Facebook.
A desperate situation
At that point, rescuer Justin Thomas decided to step in to get the puppies to safety. When he arrived, Justin found three adult dogs and seven newborn puppies who were only a few days old. Justin knew he needed help, so he contacted his colleagues at the LaMa Animal Rescue and Support Services shelter to report the situation.
Once Justin's colleagues arrived, they managed to secure the two male dogs, named Domino and Ranger. However, the mother dog, named Abby, proved very difficult to approach...
Finally safe
It took the rescuers several hours to finally get her to safety. As for the puppies, they weren't walking yet, so it was easy to place them in a carrier. Once the mother dog was reunited with her little ones, she began to relax.
All the dogs were examined by a vet. The puppies and their mum are in good health and are resting at the shelter. However, the two male dogs were found to be suffering from heartworm, so their health will need to be monitored closely. The rescuers are, of course, doing everything in their power to treat them. We wish them all a speedy recovery before they go on to find their forever families.
