A woman in Los Angeles recently witnessed a scene she'll never forget, after she saw a family pull up to an empty parking lot, and abandon their dog.
They were clearly heartbroken, weeping as they tied her to a tree, put a muzzle on, left her food next to her and drove away.
"Wrong to do this"
"How wrong to do this to a dog! They should have surrendered the dog to a shelter", wrote an outraged Dianne on Facebook, as she shared the post to Fifty Shades of Kindness.
The poor pup was so confused, unable to understand why her family had left her. But thankfully for the German Shepherd, Malinois mix, Bridget Blitsch watched the scene unfold. She sat with the inconsolable dog until Suzette Hall of Logan's Legacy arrived.
The right place at the right time
"She was crying, Bridget was crying, I was crying", recalled Suzette. "If Bridget wasn't at the right place at the right time, Melody would probably still be sitting there tied to the tree, wondering where they went".
Melody it turned out, was the sweetest girl, calmly letting Suzette lift her into the car.
It was only once they were there, that Suzette spotted a heartbreaking detail. Melody's family had placed a necklace around her neck before driving away, clearly devastated by the choice they had to make.
Melody is now with a foster family, who are helping her heal emotionally from the trauma of being left. When she's ready, the team will work to find her the perfect home.
