A dog lover who buried her beloved pooch in the back garden couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the same dog, alive and well, five days later.

Here's a strange story about a Springer Spaniel called Massie who came back from he dead!

Heartbreaking news

Maisie went missing from her family home in Crowfield, Sussex, around bonfire night. The poor pup ran off in fear, terrified by the sound of exploding fireworks.

Maisie's owner, Codie Hutton, was devasted. Two days later, that devastation turned to heartbreak. A neighbour told Codie that a dog matching Maisie's description had been found dead on a nearby road.

Codie collected the body from the vet, then buried it in her back garden next to Maisie's favourite hang-out spot.

A few days later, while Codie was still trying to come to terms with her loss, the weirdness started. Codie kept getting calls from friends and other dog lovers saying that Maisie had been spotted seven miles away. Codie thought it was a mix-up. Or maybe it's a sick joke. Because her dog was dead and buried in the back garden...

But the calls kept coming...

The second coming of Massie

Eventually, Codie's father decided to investigate. And two days after the search began, he spotted Maisie huddled up in a doorway seven miles away in Wickham Market, Suffolk. Unbelievable.

Codie was, as you can imagine, quite surprised to see her dead dog come running up the driveway!

"I thought Maisie was gone," said Codie. "I thought I was never going to see her again. I still couldn't believe it was my Maisie. It's been a rollercoaster. I will never forget it, that's for sure."

Nobody has any idea where the dog buried in the garden came from. So far, no one in the local area has reported another missing dog. One theory is that it may have been a fox.
