The US state of Tennessee, typically known for whisky and as the birthplace of rock 'n' roll and country music, is now making headlines for an entirely unexpected reason. An extraordinary dog from the region is causing quite a stir.
Meet Goose, a 1.5-year-old mix of Golden Retriever and Australian Shepherd, introduced on TikTok by his owner, Brandy Clark, in July. Since then, he has captured the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
A mixed breed that turns heads
What makes Goose so special? It’s his striking appearance. With the gentle face of a Golden Retriever and the distinctive grey, white, and black coat of an Australian Shepherd, this dog is truly a showstopper.
In her viral video, Brandy proudly asks, "Have you ever seen such a mix?" The response from viewers has been overwhelmingly positive.
"Many people say he looks wild. We think he's perfect! This is the best dog mix!" Brandy gushes in the clip’s comments. Goose comes from a purebred Golden Retriever mother and a Blue Merle Australian Shepherd father, fittingly named Moose.
Australian Shepherd 'goes viral
Goose’s stunning looks aren’t his only remarkable trait. His personality combines the best of both breeds. "I’d say the personality is Golden. But the temperament could easily remind you of an Aussie with the 'watch and herd' instincts," Brandy explains.
In fact, the Australian Retriever is typically described as intelligent, loyal, and sociable. These dogs are excellent family pets and often exhibit the herding instincts of their Australian Shepherd ancestry.
For his family, Goose is certainly the ideal dog. "My husband calls him the perfect mix," Brandy proudly shares.
