Luke Salmon, 15 and from Kent, has had to endure endless bullying at school because of his skin condition, psoriasis. The bullying left Luke feeling incredibly lonely and without any confidence.
One day, Luke was looking at dogs online when he came across an eight-week-old black Labrador mix. Luke noticed that the pup had six legs and felt an instant affinity with the young pup.
A friend called Roo
The family realised that because she was from a breeder, the dog might be put down to make space for others that had a better chance of being sold. They quickly contacted the breeder and within days, the little pup was theirs.
The family called the puppy Roo because she hops around on her back legs like a kangaroo. She joined the family, which included a Jack Russell Terrier, two cats, and French Lop rabbits, and settled in very well.
Love at first sight
But it was Luke that Roo formed the strongest bond with, and the pair rarely leave each other’s side. Despite having two extra front legs, it’s not life-threatening and doesn't cause Roo any pain, nor does it stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. She's just perfectly imperfect!
Roo’s arrival has had a noticeable effect on Luke’s confidence. He now has a friend he can trust and doesn’t feel he’s always the odd one out.
