While she was away for the weekend, she received a strange message from her neighbour.
The text read: "I think there's an animal in your garden."
A mysterious guest
According to her neighbour, the little animal had been crying outside her house for several days. Chelsea checked her security camera footage to see what was going on. That's when she spotted the tiny creature. It looked like a small dog or a young coyote, but it was impossible to be sure as the image quality was blurry.
As soon as she got home, Chelsea went into her garden to investigate. She was convinced it was a baby coyote. After comparing it with photos online, she saw a real resemblance.
A happy ending
The little animal was starving and terrified. With her sister's help, Chelsea managed to bring him inside for the night. The next day, she took him to the vet. It was then that she got confirmation: he was a dog, not a coyote. In a nod to his coyote-like appearance, she decided to name him Yote.
Chelsea put up posters and flyers all over the neighbourhood to see if a family was missing Yote. But after weeks of searching, she realised he didn't have a family to go back to...
Chelsea and her husband, Steven, weren't sure if they could keep him. Their beloved dog, Leroy, had recently passed away, and they didn't know if they were ready to welcome another puppy into their lives.
But as the days went by, they grew more and more attached to the little pup. After just a few weeks with Yote, the couple decided to adopt him for good. Now, Yote will be able to spend Christmas snuggled up with his new family!
