Montgomery County Animal Shelter responded to a call about a stray dog, but nothing prepared them for the moment they recognised him.
The dog, named Rigsby, had been adopted from the shelter six years earlier.
No longer wanted
As per protocol, staff contacted the registered owners, only to be told they no longer wanted him. The reason remains unknown, though some suspected his age played a part.
Despite being abandoned, Rigsby remained gentle and obedient, quickly settling back into the shelter environment.
Staff were heartbroken but determined to find him a loving home.
Happy ending for Rigsby
That hope came quickly. Linda, who already had a senior dog named Bentley, saw Rigsby’s story online and instantly felt a connection.
“I saw this boy on my news feed, and the timing was perfect. I knew he was the one,” she said.
After a successful meeting with Bentley, Rigsby was adopted and left the shelter once more, this time for good.
“Rigsby has settled in perfectly. He and Bentley sleep side by side, and he loves being close to his brother and mummy,” Linda said.
Now Rigsby is enjoying the peaceful retirement he deserves.
