Four puppies dumped at shelter gate look strangely familiar

Early on the morning of 8th December, a passer-by spotted an abandoned box outside the gates of the RSPCA Doncaster and Rotherham branch.

It was raining that morning, and the box was beginning to get soaked.

So, the passer-by called the shelter team to report the abandoned box.

Familiar faces

When staff arrived and lifted the box, they realised four puppies were huddled inside. But the biggest shock was yet to come. As they took a closer look at the four puppies, the staff found that the little ones looked strangely familiar!

They quickly made the connection to a previous abandonment. Just a few weeks earlier, seven puppies who were the spitting image of them had been abandoned in the very same way. The staff concluded that they were all from the same family, but from different litters.

Safe and sound

The staff quickly washed the puppies and settled them into a warm, cosy bed. The four little ones are about eight weeks old and have been named Sunny, Rain, Drizzle, and Puddle.

As the previous seven puppies all found loving homes, the staff are hopeful it will be the same for these little ones. The shelter is now looking for the person who abandoned the puppies in such a way on two separate occasions and is appealing for information about their background. It is hoped that they will be able to get to the bottom of this case soon.
