It's a precautionary measure to keep dogs safe from household dangers, such as electrical sockets or food that could make them ill.
The crate can be a transitional tool for some puppies and young dogs, before they can be trusted to be left out of it while their owners are away.
Home alone for the first time
This was the decision made by the owners of Clover, a rescue dog. On 14th April, Clover's owners decided it was time for her to be left home alone without the crate. They switched on the living room security camera and went out to do their shopping.
While they were out, they checked in on Clover, of course. The dog was quietly napping on the sofa. Clover could have caused chaos in the house, but that wasn't the case at all!
An adorable reaction
When they got back, they checked the security camera footage, and Clover's reaction as they approached was magical. The dog can be seen sitting up on the sofa. Her little ears are pricked, listening intently for her humans to arrive. She starts wagging her tail with happiness.
Then, when her mum finally walks in, Clover's ears relax completely. The dog is absolutely delighted: her humans are finally home! Clover jumps off the sofa to greet her owner and get some well-deserved cuddles. It's a truly charming moment. Well done, Clover, for being so good on your first time home alone!
