In late November, neighbours of an 84-year-old woman in Henan province were disturbed by the sound of her Poodle barking uncontrollably.
They tried to silence him, certain he would soon return home.
Raising the alarm
But instead of heading home, the Poodle became increasingly agitated, pacing and barking as he tried desperately to get somebody's attention.
Eventually, one of the neighbours decided to investigate, accompanying the frantic dog next door.
The 84-year-old owner of the brown Poodle had fallen badly while cooking and was unable to get up on her own. The dog seemingly understood instinctively that he needed to act to get help for his owner.
A shocking discovery
Once there, the neighbour found the woman lying on the floor, unable to get up.
Thankfully, her loyal companion had raised the alarm.
It took four people to carry the injured woman out of the house and to get her to hospital. But thanks to her loyal four-legged friend and the attentive neighbour, she received the medical care she needed.
The bond between this little dog and his owner has touched the hearts of animal lovers around the world. Sometimes heroes have four paws, and they find a way to raise their voice when it matters most.
