A man tried to play hide and sneak with his Golden Retriever. But the sharp-nosed pooch sniffed him out in seconds. Dogs can always smell their favourite human!

Never try to outsmart a Golden Retriever. Because you will lose. These giant fluffballs aren't just super cute; they're also super smart. It won't take them long to 'sniff out' what you're up to.

And if you don't believe us, check out what happened to this guy. He tried to prank his Golden Retriever by hiding under the dog's bed. But (obviously) it didn't work out as planned.

The guy had no chance

In a video posted on Youtube, the man hides on the floor while his wife covers him with the dog's bed. She then sits on the sofa and does her best, 'this is just me chilling on the sofa' impression.

The Golden Retriever appears a few seconds later, and he instantly knows that something is up. He wags his tail, sniffs the air, and dives straight to the bed.

He knows dad is under there. He'd recognise THAT smell anywhere. Plus, the big dad-shaped lump under the bed was a bit of a giveaway.

You might know the furry star of this video. It's Bailey, one of the most famous dogs on social media. His Youtube channel, Funny Dog Bailey, has over 700k subscribers. Its videos regularly generate over 10million views.

How did Bailey smell his dad so quickly? It all comes down to the power of a dog's nose.

Super sniffers

Dogs have around 50X more scent receptors than us humans. Scientists estimate that the canine sense of smell is between 10,000 to 100,000 times stronger than ours.

Under the right weather conditions, some dogs can pick up a familiar scent from over 12 miles away. Smelling dad hiding under a bed was puppy's play for Bailey.

Better luck next time, human. You'll have to do better if you want to get one over on this super-sniffer.
