Bailiffs never quite know what they’ll find when they arrive at a property. Will the occupier be in? Will they be cooperative? But for this bailiff in France, he never imagined that his arrival would quickly turn into a rescue mission.
Bailiff turned rescuer
The bailiff was attending the address to evict the occupier for not paying their rent. His job was to reclaim the property for the owner. But everything changed when he walked into the bathroom.
As the bailiff opened the bathroom door, he immediately spotted something on the floor. It was a shocking sight. Lying on the floor was an emaciated American Bulldog in a terrible state.
The poor dog had been locked in the bathroom without food or drink for over three weeks. The bailiff immediately contacted the police who took the dog to a local animal shelter.
Too weak
The dog named Weedy was severely malnourished, only weighing a third of what he should. He couldn’t even stand. The poor pup looked skeletal and was immediately put on a drip. As his body was so weak, it was uncertain whether Weedy would recover.
While Weedy was being cared for, his owner was located, taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty.
Sadly, despite the dedicated care he received from vet staff, Weedy’s body was too weak, and he passed away.
