Around 4 years ago, PETA was made aware of a dog that was forced to live outside – even in the dead of winter.
The animal welfare group promptly sent over a volunteer to check on the situation. And what she found left her feeling deeply sad.
Labrador neglected by his owners
A black Labrador was indeed living outside, tied to a post at the end of a very short rope. The PETA volunteer immediately went to speak to the owners, hoping to be able to advise them on how best to care for their dog.
Unfortunately, when confronted, the owners simply said that they had no interest in caring for their dog – in fact, they didn’t want their dog at all.
Black Lab rescued and put up for adoption
So the PETA volunteer did the only thing she could do – she untied the dog and took him with her.
Later named Flannel, the Labrador was extremely nervous at first. Everything about living in a home and with humans was scary to him. But after a few weeks of receiving lots of TLC, he started gaining confidence.
Now, Flannel is living his best life with his new owner, Wendy. A happy ending for a very deserving dog!
