Appy, the Border Collie, was a much-loved family pet, so when he disappeared one day, his owners were understandably distraught.
They searched high and low, but the pup was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, Appy the dog had been chipped, so the family knew that if he ever turned up, they'd know about it.
A wide-ranging search
However, after a long year, they had resigned themselves to never seeing their beloved pooch again.
And so, imagine their surprise when the phone rang unexpectedly and a council officer, some 150 km away, called to say Appy had been found!
The dog appeared to be nourished and in good shape, but nothing else is known about the adventures he’d encountered in his time away from home!
The importance of a microchip
The story just goes to prove the importance of microchipping pets. The council worker from Mid Murray Council, who found the pup, said there’s no way the owners could have been located were it not for the chip.
We hope that little Appy has had enough adventures to last him a lifetime so that he can now spend far more time curled up at his owner’s feet rather than undertaking any further 150km adventures!
We wish the family and Appy a very happy reunion!
