8-week-old Gunner is still trying to understand the world around him. So far, he’s doing pretty good, that is, until he meets a lemon. He's not quite sure what to make of that.

That’s when Gunner, a Golden Retriever, starts to lose it. What the heck is this acid-yellow object?

If you like lemon on your food or even in your drinks, then you know how acidic it tastes.

Give it a try!

It’s just a lemon, Gunner

Imagine you’d never tried it before…the taste would surprise you, right?

Well, that’s exactly what’s happening here! Gunner might’ve expected a tasty treat, but it seems his taste buds aren’t quite accustomed to such alien flavours!

Gunner starts to yap at the lemon threateningly, pawing at it and launching himself back and forth from his victim.

Though Gunner’s reaction seems hilarious, most dogs actually react this way when they get a whiff of lemon. It’s a good thing too! Lemons are toxic to dogs! Ingesting some could give your pooch serious stomach upsets, including vomiting and diarrhoea. Giving a slice of lemon a sniff won’t hurt your dog, but don’t let him/her eat it! While most pooches wouldn’t dare, it certainly is better to be safe than sorry.
